Street Car Fun at Road Atlanta!

Updated: Aug 27, 2022

Track days, or high performance driving events (HPDE), are one of our most recommended activities for enthusiasts who don't have a race car of their own. These events are very inclusive, since all you need to participate is a car and a helmet! Even for those of us who race, track days are great to get some extra seat time and practice for upcoming race events.

That being said, Quentin and Tyla headed off to Road Atlanta for some track time. Quentin used the opportunity to test out some new timing and video equipment, while this was Tyla's first experience driving on a race track! As a novice, Tyla was given an instructor to teach her the basics as well as ensuring that she was driving safely. HPDE instructors are experienced racers who dedicate some of their time to teaching others how to enjoy the sport. They are invaluable assets for anyone new to driving on race circuits.

Tyla drove her 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI (Mk7) for the event, while Quentin was in his beloved 2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Both cars performed exceptionally, and the only snag was some brake fade due to the high summer temperatures. You can find an onboard video with Quentin on one of his hot laps around Road Atlanta below. The event was a huge success, and both drivers enjoyed all of their track time. We look forward to Tyla participating in another HPDE soon, so watch this space!
