The past year has been one of personal growth and education. I have been busy as a full-time college student and part-time worker. As I grow closer to acquiring my AA degree, I will be making an effort to continue my racing career once again. In the mean time, I have also bought myself a new car! After saving up all summer, I bought a 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5.

So now that I have a fun and reliable road car, my attention turns back to racing. The plan is to get a racing car, trailer, and towing vehicle by the end of March. After looking at several options, I have narrowed the list down to a few choices: Formula Vee, Spec E30, or Spec Racer Ford. Provisionally, I would like to buy a Gen 2 Spec Racer Ford, and then convert it to a Gen 3 later in the year or the following year. As I have done in the past, I will be racing the SCCA with whichever car I choose to race.
On a different note, I have to mention that I have spent some time on track in the past year thanks to Hooked On Driving. They are a business that rents out tracks and lets people take almost any car (yes, that means even your daily driver) on the track for a day. As a licensed SCCA driver, I have gone to many of their events to help instruct beginner's. Hooked On Driving separated their driver's into 3 categories: beginner, intermediate, and professional. In the beginner class, you will have an instructor with you for the whole day helping you learn the basics. In the intermediate level, a driving instructor is optional. In the professional level, you will see people who are either very experienced in road cars or racing cars on the track with no instructors. Hooked On Driving is a great company, so please go check them out if you're interested in going to an event and getting a chance to go on the track with your car! You can find them on facebook or at https://www.hookedondriving.com.
